I have had way too much fun creating makeup looks on my model Ally. She’s already beautiful, so my work is easy. That said, I created this navy smoky eye for a night out. This isn’t your great-grandma’s robin-egg-blue shadow of the 50s, this is a grown-up, sultry look that when paired with a sleek outfit for a night on the town, is eye-catching, not overwhelming.
I started by applying a mix of Make Up Forever HD foundation with Smashbox Artificial Light on a Real Techniques Expert Face brush to give her olive skin a glow. Next, I brightened her under eyes and highlighted her cheekbones with Bobbi Brown corrector & creamy concealer. Since the eyes are the star of this look, the skin was minimally contoured on the back of the cheekbones and temple- not the nose!- with MAC Blush in Harmony.
For the eyes, I layered a Bobbi Brown Long Wear shadow in Brown Metal on the lower lid with a Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow brush. The palette I used to create these blue lids is a limited edition Laura Mercier palette that is no longer in stores, but I have found exact dupes so you can recreate this look. I started with the palest hue- a light turquoise- over the entire lid. Then I worked a navy shimmer in a V shape along the lash line and into the crease, blending with a clean brush as I went. Lastly, a black-blue shadow was smudged along the lash line. The eyes were lined with MAC gel liner in Black Track, for intensity, and a silver-grey shadow was dusted into the tear duct for a bit of luminosity.
To finish, I powdered the skin with Make Up Forever Duo Mat, glossed the lips with Smashbox gloss in Enduring, set her brows with clear brow gel, and used Make Up Forever Smoky Lash mascara. Et voilà!
