City Girl smarts: Why pay $995 for a Fendi clutch, when you can pay $17.95 for a similar style at H&M? I would save my hard-earned money on a leather jacket I would have for life, rather than an on-trend accessory from a designer that’s in one season and out the next.
Look to stores like Gap, ASOS, Target, H&M, Modcloth, Forever 21 and Topshop to add trendy pieces without going over budget.

City Girl travels: Santiago, Chile.

Chile is a land of wine vineyards, mountains, and miles of beaches. Over the course of 10 days, my husband and I were of wine-tasting, sun-bathing, Spanish-speaking, and exploring. I wanted to see as much of the city as possible! Must  be The City Girl in Me.

Left to right: Fresh off the plane & hunting for brunch. Wearing my DIY Jeans last seen here, H&M Mens sweater, and Sam Edelman loafers. // Steak dinner with Chilean vino (of course) at Las Vacas Gordas, while wearing my jacket ala Giovanna Battaglia. // Exploring downtown on a Sunday stroll. Wearing peplum top scored from Gilt Groupe & H&M printed pencil skirt. // Sunset walk along the financial district of Las Condes before drinks. Obsessed with that maxi dress. // More vino at the Ritz with my man. // Rooftop poolside turban with my mom’s vintage scarf.

BASICS. Spring Edition.
Though these pillars of your closet aren’t necessarily fun to buy because of their simplicity, time and time again they will come very handy.
I say, every season it’s important to re-asses your closet. What do you love? What do you need? What haven’t you worn, and therefore, need to donate/sell/discard?
Here are some basics that are the staples of my wardrobe. Best part? They can be mixed and matched into a month’s worth of outfits on their own, or they can be added to fun new pieces to fit any style or occasion.
Get your own here: Grey sweater (mine is H&M Mens) // Black sheer shirt (mine is Gap) // Boyfriend plaid shirt (mine is J.Crew Mens) // Denim shirt // Striped tee (mine is H&M) // White shorts // LBD (mine is Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx) // Neutral Loafers (mine are Sam Edelman via Nordstrom Rack) // Neutral Heels (yes, red is a neutral) // Pencil skirt (mine is vintage Escada) // Dark wash skinny jeans (mine are J Brand)

H&M’s fall catalog online has almost all of the items on my “to buy” list! I don’t like investing lots of cashola on trendy items so places like H&M, Forever 21, and Asos have my heart in their hands when it comes to picking new trendy pieces.
