Shoes.

With Fashion Week just around the corner, I have been musing over ideas for outfits to wear to the shows. An updated pair of shoes has the power elevate every day basics. Did you know these pairs are all from Free People? They really have something for everyone’s taste. While these are a bit over my budget, I’m entertaining the idea of the investment because every pair is leather—- and we all know that makes for a long-lasting shoe. Anyone else having to restrain themselves from these beauties?

City Girl logic: Skimp or Splurge?
Tall black boots are Fall fashion essentials. Whether you pair them with a dress for weekend brunch or over jeans and blazer for day, you can’t go wrong. Boots like these are as basic and versatile as a white t-shirt. So, what do you say? Will you skimp or splurge?

Fall Trend Report.
Embrace your inner urban cowgirl with a great fringe bag, a Western hat, and some lace up booties. Just wear one piece at a time or you’ll risk looking like you left Texas Roadhouse.
Go monochromatic with grey on grey, black on black, or my new favorite— red on red. Minimal accessories in neutral colors keep this look fresh.
Give your feet a break from stilettos and try some chunky heels! My arches are thanking me already. The heel height should be under 4.5 inches and over 2 inches, to make this 70s trend more modern.

How to Shop Your Closet

About this time every year, I get really bored of my clothes. I’ve been reaching for the same tops & dresses since May, and I need to refresh my closet. I would rather spend on Fall staples, so I need to “make do” with what I have. Do any of you have this problem?

Here is what to do. Set aside a few hours on the weekend for a closet revamping. Do the laundry, make your bed, and get ready to reorganize.

Converse Chuck Taylors.
A classic sneaker for any age (really) and any closet. I purchased the Lo style a few months back, and they have gotten a lot of mileage already. I love to juxtapose the boyish rocker vibe of these with a pretty dress, brightly hued shorts (got these on sale at Gap yesterday!), or make your look Parisienne by pairing them with a cropped skinny pant. I’ve been swapping out my gladiator sandals for these on days when I know I will be walking a lot. I know, I know, you’re thinking, “but these are sneakers” and they are, but they are not your velcro-strap, clunky, bulky sneakers. Though I have cringed at the sight of many women of NYC commuting to work in running sneakers while wearing a great outfit, these are the versatile anecdote, and most styles are less than $50!
To keep it classic, choose a neutral shade like black, grey, red, or denim blue. My favorite are the bright white, but find more styles of them here: All Star Hi-Top & All Star Lo.
